  17. To make it easier for everybody to find what they're looking for in
  18. the C-Kermit 7.0 update notes, the ckermit2.txt file has been converted
  19. to HyperText Markup Language (HTML) and placed on the Kermit website as:

  23. It's big, of course, so it takes a while to load.  But it should be
  24. easier to read, with the same typeface conventions as the printed manual,
  25. plus all the references and internal cross-references are now hyperlinks.
  26. Nothing fancy -- it should be usable by any browser at all (HTML 1.0 and
  27. later :-)  It's still all one big file, which is advantageous for text
  28. searches.

  30. The case studies (posted here over the past few weeks) that were added to
  31. the website now link into specific sections of the new update notes page,
  32. so you can just click on (e.g.) "Section 7.19" and go straight there.
  33. Case 10 seems to have been the most discussion-provoking, and all the
  34. followups have been collected with it:

  38. In other news, version 7.0 has been holding up well.  As noted or implied
  39. in other postings, some alterations were made after the release to make
  40. it build on platforms that were not accessible before the release date,
  41. most of them to the makefile (the one involving SCO OSR5 was caused by
  42. a "cleaning up" edit to the makefile after the binaries were built --
  43. evidently it was interrupted in the middle by a phone call or something).

  45. We've collected about 240 C-Kermit 7.0 binaries so far, which might be
  46. some kind of record, plus 100 G-Kermit ones.  We hope to go to press with
  47. the C-Kermit 7.0 CDROM soon, so if you can make any binaries that are not
  48. listed (or that are listed without the "+" sign) in:
